We have a healthy trail mix nut recipe for you! After doing much research on the different types of nuts that there are, which are the highest in fat and calories, and which are the highest in protein, the below recipe is what we came up with. Please note, that we do not buy salted nuts to avoid added sodium, but, we do add a bit of sweetness such as chocolate chips or butterscotch chips. We only add one bag of the chips so that the calories of our mix does not get too high.
1/4 cup is about 150 calories and is good for one serving.
- 1 bag unsalted Almonds
- 1 canister of unsalted Cashews
- 1 canister of unsalted Peanuts
- 1 bag Walnuts
- 1 bag unsalted Sunflower Seeds
- 1 bag Chocolate chips OR Butterscotch Chips
