Healthy Snacking

Healthy snacking is important to every diet. Eating 5-6 small meals a day can help you stay fuller longer and will help push away the cravings you get throughout the day. Personally, I eat every three hours during the day. This means that I eat a mid-morning snack and then an afternoon snack. My snack is usually between 100 and 200 calories. Eating snacks high in protein and fiber, and low in carbohydrates, helps to keep me fuller longer.

Below is a list of healthy snack options we eat:

  • Fruits (an apple away keeps the doctor away)
  • Vegetables (we love carrots and celery)
  • Nuts (1/4 cup of nuts is typically one serving size) Homemade Healthy Trail Mix Recipe
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Cheese sticks
  • Non-fat Greek Yogurt
